Observation Narrative ? Schoenoplectus americanus-dominated meso- to polyhaline marsh. S. americanus is densest closer to dune; farther into marsh stature decreases. Dominance by S. americanus may be response to a lower nutrient regime than in other parts of marsh. Peat here is less decomposed than in other plots, which is consistent with lower nutrient regime. Plot located in marsh ca. 10 m from toe of dune, ca. 30 m NW of northernmost Quercus falcata (ca. 60 cm dbh) in dune woodland. Two sides of plot run at bearing of 3 deg. Center marked with 1" diameter PVC pipe.
